Bikers 4 Reentry & our local team in the news!

Over 97% of people currently incarcerated in Missouri will one day return home to our communities, and they face a number of barriers upon release. Others are placed on probation and face many of those same barriers when trying to get their lives back on track to becoming more productive citizens. Local re-entry groups, such as the Cape Girardeau Area Re-Entry team, bring community agencies, organizations, and citizens together to help break down those barriers through collaboration and innovation. Some of the biggest challenges are finding employment, stable housing, and transportation, and this event is being held to raise funds to support incidental expenses related to re-entry. Some need help getting their birth certificate and a photo ID to get a job, some need help with transportation to their new job until they get their first paycheck, and others need bus tickets to job interviews or medical appointments until they can get on their feet. These people are our friends, family, and neighbors throughout our communities, and supporting them when they are trying to get their lives headed in the right direction makes a big difference—and also make our communities safer.
